James O. Skarsten is a senior attorney with Yee & Associates, P.C. Mr. Skarsten graduated from the University of Wisconsin with a bachelor of science degree in electrical engineering in 1968. He received a law degree from the University of Wisconsin Law School in 1973. Since 1974 Mr. Skarsten has practiced intellectual property law for the U.S. government, as in-house corporate counsel and with firms in Milwaukee and Dallas. His most recent position, before joining Yee & Associates, P.C. was with Gardere Wynne Sewell LLP in Dallas.
Mr. Skarsten has extensive experience in the practice of intellectual property law, with particular emphasis on domestic and foreign patent prosecution. He has prepared and prosecuted patent applications in a wide range of technical fields, including electronic, electrical, computer related, medical diagnostic imaging, and mechanical arts. He has appeared in proceedings before the European Patent Office and the Japanese Patent and Trademark Office. He has also negotiated U.S. and international patent licenses and other agreements in intellectual property rights.
Mr. Skarsten is registered to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office. He is admitted to the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Wisconsin, and the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Wisconsin, and is licensed to practice law in the State of Wisconsin.
